Marie Laimgruber is the founder of the sports brand Natural Fit. She knows how to take care of her health and gladly shares her expertise with others. How did you come up with the idea of launching the brand Natural Fit?

I’m a passionate sports lover. For me, movement is freedom. At the same time, physical activity often takes a toll on our muscles and causes pain. To be healthy and in harmony with your body, you need to do compensation activities. This is how I discovered the Spiral Stabilization method developed by Dr. Richard Smisek. I’d like to share this approach with everyone who wants to do sport without sacrificing their health.

I live in Pinzgau. It’s a very picturesque place. Nature is a powerful source of health and strength we can tap into. I’d like to guide other people through this process and help them. I’d like to have my input. 

What is the main goal of your project?

I work as a coach, providing assistance in training. Plus, I run a spine stabilization program.

For a human being, the most natural movement is walking. The place I live, with its amazing landscapes, offers a perfect environment that makes you want to wander around for hours. While walking, we don’t only flex, but also extend our joints. Why is it important? Because most of us spend much time sitting, and our muscles remain flexed too long. Many sports are also based on muscle flexion. This is why compensation activities are vital. 

The Natural Fit concept brings together breathing, diet, movement, rest, physical exertion, and psychological education. Those are the key areas that have a huge impact on our health. If you know how a human body works, you can optimize these areas to become healthy and happy. The good news is that nature can help you with that a lot. Using the Natural Fit method doesn’t cost much. I don’t sell anything. I only offer my time and knowledge.

I distribute flyers. I also benefit from Facebook ads and word-of-mouth. As for which method delivers the best results, only time will tell.

Luckily, there is no lack of tools that can help you with that.

The first tool we recommend is Google Trends that shows popular search results by seasons. For example, selling mosquito nets in fall is hardly a clever idea. However, in spring and summer this business becomes a money cow. On the Google Trends website, enter the product name (bags, bed linen, clothing, etc.) and see the dynamics of customer demand for that product in your region over the recent year.

Another helpful tool is Serpstat. The first 5 search results are free. To continue using the service, you have to upgrade to a paid account. Anyway, you can use the 5 free search results to complement the picture obtained through Google Trends.

Along with the most frequent searches, the service will show you:

  • trends and search request variations;
  • competitive ads;

Our tip is to analyze all related search requests and collect as much data as possible. For example, if you’re considering the idea of selling bed linen, you need to analyze such requests as “pillow”, “blanket”, “children’s bed linen”, etc.

2. Analyze your market and competition

The next step will be to do some market research. Using the tools mentioned above, you’ll be able to make a list of 10-15 major competitive websites. At this stage, you need to answer the following questions:

  • What product range do my rivals offer?
  • Which products are the most popular among customers?
  • What is the price range for the same product across the existing sellers?
  • What special offers do my competitors have?
  • What are the standard terms for payment and shipment? What does the standard return and exchange policy look like?
  • How user-friendly and functional are my competitors’ websites?
  • Which pages on competitive websites generate the highest traffic?
  • Are my competitors active on social media? Are they using Google context ads?

Before getting down to analysis, take a closer look at your competitor list and remove major wholesale platforms, such as Ulmart, RusOptovik, Aliexpress, Ebay, etc. Competing with these market giants is beyond your power just yet, so it’s easier to simply ignore them at this stage.

Search for suppliers

Now you have the general idea of the market you’re about to enter. You know how the average business in your niche works, what products your competitors offer, and how the prices vary from vendor to vendor. Your next task is to find the companies that will supply you with your selected product (products) on good terms.

When choosing the best supplier, consider the following factors:

  • Language. Keep in mind that Chinese suppliers tend to have a rather poor knowledge of English which means you’ll probably need a translator.
  • Geography. While shipment from Asia takes 5 to 12 days, some local suppliers can deliver the order within 1 day.
  • Shipment and delivery terms.
  • Easy access to information on available inventory. Your website must display relevant and accurate information on which products are in and out of stock.
  • Prices and payment policy.
  • Does the supplier has fixed monthly charges regardless of the sales volume?
  • Minimum order size. Some suppliers oblige dropshippers to pay for a certain amount of goods in advance.
  • Unit price for dropshipper.
  • Payment methods.
  • Marketing materials (product photos and specifications, etc.).
  • Possibility to order product samples.

To find suppliers, enter “suppliers dropshipping”, “supplier base dropshipping” and similar search requests. There are websites where suppliers are categorized by type of product, geography, customer ranking, etc. Plus, you can find dropshipping-themed pages on social media and in messengers. For example, in Telegram, there are channels with exhaustive information on working with different suppliers.

4. Open an online store

Before creating a website that will serve as a “shopping window” for your business, take the time to answer these important questions:

  • What product (products) will you be selling? What is your pricing policy? This will help you understand whether you’ll be OK with a small landing page or have to build a fully-fledged website with 10-300 pages.
  • Who are your target audience (age, gender, geography, lifestyle, expectations, etc.)? How are you going to catch the attention of your potential customers?
  • What is your budget? How much time do you have for launching an online website? Do you have enough money to reinvest in your project during the first months?

Once you’ve got these questions sorted out, you can start working on your online store. You need to come up with a catchy name, logo, and corporate colors. When it comes to creating a unique brand identity, there are plenty of professional logo making services, including Logaster.

Honestly, I did everything myself. I created a website and filled it with content. I added photos and videos. I also did (and continue doing) bookkeeping myself. It was a slow and challenging process because I had to learn everything from scratch. Plus, if you want to be on top of your game, you need to know all the ins and outs of online marketing. 

How do you promote your business? 

Currently, I’m promoting my store on Instagram and Facebook. Plus, word-of-mouth is doing a great job. Facebook ads play a big part in pushing my products, allowing me to reach audience all over the world. 

With your clients coming from different time zones, how do you optimize your customer service? Do you use any tools? 

Chatbots are of great help in answering the questions users may have. On top of that, customers can reach us at any time — this is what the “Contact Us” page is for. I’m also using Shopify’s Ping tool for posting news and updates on social media. 

What was your first sale and how did it make you feel? How did you organize the delivery?

It all started from an ad I placed on Facebook. When I woke up the next day, there it was! The first order from my first customer! I felt pumped and motivated. I wanted to do the job without a hitch. So I contacted the supplier to provide them with the delivery address. I also made sure that the product would be shipped as soon as possible. The customer was very happy with the delivery and provided great feedback which I passed on to the supplier. It felt great to be appreciated.

Mistakes can help a business evolve and allow the owner to see what works and what not. What mistakes should be avoided when opening an online store?

  • You must know your suppliers and the types of products you’re selling. 
  • You must know how your products are manufactured, how they are shipped, and how long the shipment takes.  
  • You must know your products like the back of your hand to be able to answer your customers’ questions.  

 Don’t expect fast results because you would risk missing some really important things along the way. Take the time to grow and nurture your business. Try to enjoy the process and learn as much as you can. Eventually, this will help you make your first sale. And last but not least. Be an expert in your niche and don’t look for shortcuts.

How to create an email signature

Are you ready to create a professional email signature? Here are your options when it comes to doing that.

Your email software

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that the email software you use has a way of making a super simple signature. The most widespread ones, Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Gmail certainly do.

If you’re using Gmail, here’s what you have to do. Go to Settings > Signature, and change the radio button from “No Signature” to your preferred email.

If you’re using a secondary email to send business emails, be sure to check it in this section. Didn’t know you could do that?

Here’s a quick tip along the way: you can use Gmail to forward emails from multiple business accounts like email@yourwebsite.com. It’s really handy because most cPanel email clients are inconvenient. Your hosting has to allow forwarding though (follow this link to learn more about email forwarding on your hosting).

Gmail gives you some control over the content, but it doesn’t let you resize images. It only gives some options, which might not be enough for you, and you’ll have to change the image in the editing software before adding it. You can’t tie the link to the image, either.

A short signature like this fits in 5000 symbols of codes. Yes, email coding can become rather bulky.

Here’s a pro tip for using Hubspot’s generator. Don’t let the “Create Your Own Free Signature” link scare you. To remove it, copy the code, and find this phrase in the code. Delete the whole table that contains it.

The code ends with the tag “</table>”. Look for the “<table>” tag that is the closest to the end. Delete all the code complete with these tags. The code you have to delete is highlighted on this screen.

If Hubspot design doesn’t seem right for you, there are dozens of other generators on the web. Try them out and see what generator has the features you need. Start with MailSignatures or DesigHill, they offer more customization and are pretty reliable.

Want total control over your email signature? Don’t create it with a generator you’ve found on the internet, code it yourself! Zurb is a great framework that allows you to write email code in CSS in Foundation instead of learning the outdated table layout.

This way you have complete control over what your signature looks like. If you start using it, you may as well add some design to the emails themselves.

Don’t have coding skills? You can always hire a professional or ask someone from your IT department to do it. If the only thing you need is a signature, it won’t cost you much.

When you’re done with creating the signature, go to your email client and paste the code into the signature. Now, your brand new signature is going to help customers recognize you.
